Kanika Saraff

National Director, Child Protection

Kanika Saraff has worked with and for children for the past 16 years—across India's diverse states, spanning rural and urban contexts, through strategic collaborations with government, NGOs, and institutions. She brings expertise in scaling statewide initiatives and data-driven interventions with substantive background in program architecture across themes of education and child rights. She has worked with a range of key institutions interfacing children in India—including state child rights commissions, education departments, and the police —driving policy reforms and systemic change.


At Aangan, she previously led the organization's policy advocacy efforts and headed key programs before stepping into her current role as National Director-Child Protection, to lead the organisation’s operations and translate Aangan’s strategy into execution.

She sees her current work at Aangan as advancing a world where safety is recognised as critical to achieving all other development goals for children.Kanika’s writings have appeared in prominent publications including The Wire and SAGE.


She holds a degree in Economics from Delhi University, a Master degree from TISS Mumbai, and served as a Teach For India Fellow, where she taught in Mumbai classrooms.
